“My birds don’t actually eat pellets, in fact several of them have never even tried a pellet so I was dubious about whether Parrot B-Calm would be well received, I decided to give it a try anyway. We feed fresh foods including variety of seeds both sprouted and dry, nuts, fruit and veg, bean sprouts, as well as flowers and seeds from native trees. It’s nesting time at Conuretopia, the flock have all morphed into tiny dragons so what a perfect time to try what is described as a “calming” aid for parrots. There’s nothing calm about my birds right now.
Every morning I give my birds a bowl of fresh sprouts, including sprouted seeds, fruit and veg, which they love. I poured some of these pellets onto their chop and served it up and observed their response: they ALL tucked into this new food with gusto! So much so I had to add more. This was very unexpected, and very pleasing to be honest.
Even my few who have never seen a pellet started eating them, after observing the others seemingly enjoying a new food. They are a small sized pellet and easy to break up for conure sized beaks. They are obviously quite palatable.
I’ve now been serving them up every day for a month and they are still all being consumed with gusto. Whether my flock are calmer I’m not entirely sure, certainly the girls seem to be nice and calm. The boys are still tiny dragons, but they are defending their nests, so it’s hard to judge whether that behaviour could possibly be toned down. I’m going to continue to use this product, and I looked up some of their other pellets and found they have a range of foods made for breeding birds, young birds etc.”
